Today’s children still love coloring just as much as the Old People used to when they were children. In addition to this fact, it’s now known that coloring is a wondrous pre-reading activity which helps children develop the hand-eye coordination they’ll need for learning how to write. Parents who encourage the use of children’s coloring pages are also encouraging an array of other development skills including decision making, patience, persistence, and creativity.
Besides the general biblical theme coloring sheets the other types of coloring sheets that can also be considered biblical coloring pages are – Angel Color Pages, Christmas Color Pages, and New Testament Color Pages.
Another benefit has already been discussed above, that kids enjoy colorful learning and they love such fun loving methods.
There is another important aspect of teaching colors that all parents should be aware of. A recent study in Scientific American Magazine shows that the placement of descriptive adjective describing the color makes a big difference in helping kids understanding. For example in the English language we would say the ”red crayon” and it turns out this is much harder for children’s brains to grasp then the linguistic structure used in many other languages like Spanish, which would be said as the ”crayon is red.” When teaching colors or any other important property to young children, always first identify the object, then identify the property. While every day English is not spoken in this manner, and it is faster to speak or write, young brains cannot process information in this manner effectively.
Besides helping the children to develop their imaginations, parents can utilize stories from the coloring pages to teach their kids practical lessons. While the children are enjoying the process of coloring the images, they can be taught values that are important for them to grasp at a young age. Lessons from the real world can also be taught at the same time. When parents take the time to tell their children stories as they color, the child’s imagination is further strengthened and enhanced.
The last benefit I would like to discuss, actually consists of two advantages. Coloring allows your child’s creativity to blossom, but it also provides insight into a child’s emotions, and often child psychologists will utilize this tool to learn more about a child’s feelings or frame of mind at a particular time. This is another great benefit of coloring for children, it can help you to understand how exactly your child feels at any given time.
